How much weight will I lose ?

 

As a certified Weight Loss Coach I’m asked this question quite frequently. The questions range from How much weight will I lose to how much do your clients lose on average. I have been doing this long enough to know that when a client asks this question in a lot of cases they are worried and scared and deep down they are not sure if they are ready to do the work to lose weight. Let’s face it losing weight is work. It requires dedication. My clients are in their 40’s and above and come to me after trying various diets/quick fix methods with no success and are looking to lose weight permanently.

I love it when clients ask this question and I normally respond in a very different way from what they expect. I normally ask them to imagine they are about to start a Master’s program and they walk into the class on the first day and walk up to the Professor and ask, “What grade will I expect to make in this class?” or “What grades do your students make on average in this class?”. What do you think the Professor would say? Well let’s just say you probably would not even ask that question because you know that your grade is totally dependent on how much work you put in. The Professor will provide the information but you have to do the work.

I can’t guarantee that you will lose any amount of weight, you have to make a commitment to yourself that you will do the work. Doing the work when you are tired, when you have a deadline in the office, when your children have various after school activities, when you are plain tired etc. send a message that you matter. Working with me is not just about learning how to lose weight it is also about learning how to value yourself enough to do the work required.

It is worth it when you make the commitment. It is priceless to hear a client say “I can look in the mirror and smile at the reflection staring back at me” or the excitement when a client says “ I wore a dress in my closet that I had not worn in years without spanx and I looked good”. Sometimes it is something as simple as the way they feel that transforms them into a different person that has family members, coworkers, friends asking them what they are doing.

When the feeling on the outside merges with how you feel on the inside it is magical and empowering to say the least.
