10 Ways to Lose and Maintain Weight over the Holidays and Beyond

With the holidays here to stay for another few weeks, it is hard not to think about all the food  around you beckoning your name. I am  going to give you some tips to help you navigate your way to safety over the holidays and keep you holiday healthy (aka lose weight or maintain) and prevent post-holiday bulge.

1) Water yourself. A recent study proved that people who guzzled plenty of H2O lost more weight than those who didn’t.

2) Get Fresh. Eliminate packaged foods and eat fresh ingredients you’ve prepared. No bags, boxes, cans or cartons.

3) Sweet Label. Sugar isn’t healthy. Read labels and you will be amazed at where it will show up. Examples are pasta sauce and frozen entrees. Cutting the sugar out of your diet, will mean healthier meals overall.

4)Virgin options. Alcoholic beverages contain empty calories. Replace with water.

5)Sleep it off. A recent study showed that those who don’t get enough shut eye eat more and reach more for the fattening foods than those who get plenty of rest.

6)Buddy up. You are more likely to show up a the gym or the trail if someone is waiting for you.

7) Eat at home. Meals eaten away from home have 134 more calories on average

8)Walk. You can decide how long or how short your walk is. Keep it moving!

9) Veggie up. Fill 2/3 of your plate with vegetables,which are less calorie dense and more nutritious than any motivation.

10) Pay with cash. Shoppers who play with plastic are more venerable to impulse buys.
