I’ve even witnessed dramatic improvements in my clients’ lives when they’re feeling better and looking great.

Weight loss takes time, I don’t believe in “quick fixes” or gimmicks. I teach my clients  on how to think, what to eat, how to exercise and how to make the right changes to their lifestyle to produce the best results. You will be looking better – and feeling better – before you know it.

In the meantime, don’t let those “fat days” (hey, we all have them) get you down. Here are a few simple tips on what to wear to make your current body look thinner on those days when you feel like you’re never going to look your best. When you see how good you can look NOW, you may find yourself even more motivated to stick with your healthy diet and exercise program.

It all starts with a good foundation.

Experts estimate that a whopping 80 percent of women are wearing the wrong size bra. Besides being uncomfortable and unflattering, a too small (or too large) bra can lead to back pain, abrasions, difficulty breathing and tingling of the arms. If your womanly assets are spilling over the top or sides of your bra, you probably need to increase the cup size. If your bra rides up in the back, you may need a smaller band size. In general, women tend to underestimate their cup size and overestimate their band size.

The best way to ensure a perfect fit and the most flattering result is to visit a reputable bra retailer and get measured by a professional. Many high-end department stores have professional bra fitters on staff, while retailers such as Victoria’s Secret are another option.

Next, make the most of color.

Rather than opting for all black (it can be more boring than slimming), use color to play up your best assets. If you love your face or top half, wear a bright color on top. If you love your legs, wear a brighter color below. If you’ve always been one to shy away from color, ease yourself into it. Try navy blue and olive green as more colorful instead of your usual brown or black.

You can even use color to enhance your mood. In studies, red has been shown to stimulate the body and mind, making people feel more powerful and energetic. Orange has also been shown to have energy increasing potential. Blue and indigo are calming and soothing colors. Blue has been shown to lower blood pressure and increase productivity, while shades of green are thought to relieve stress.

Fit is vital.

When you throw on a big baggy sweater or pants that are a size too big, you aren’t fooling anyone – at least not in the way you may hope. Wearing clothes that are too large for you only makes you look bigger. The same can be said for squeezing in to clothes that are a size too small.

Many people wait until they reach their ideal weight before they invest in new clothing. While it may make financial sense, it can actually derail your weight loss journey. If you’re not wearing clothes that fit, you won’t look your best or feel your best. If you don’t feel your best, you may be less likely to exercise or stay on your diet.

Even if you’re still in the process of losing weight, dress the body you have while envisioning the body you want. You don’t have to spend thousands on new clothes every time you drop a few pounds. Invest in a few key pieces and make friends with a good tailor or one that specializes in alterations. He or she can take in your new clothes as your body shrinks in size.
